Synopsis
On a small island off the West coast of Ireland, as the civil war rages on the mainland, a lifelong friendship is thrown into disarray. Exasperated by his own wasted life, Colm announces that he no longer wants anything to do with his dull-witted pal, Pádraic. This seemingly unprovoked declaration of separation quickly escalates in increasingly absurd and violent directions as Pádraic refuses to accept his newfound independence. Returning to his spiritual home of Ireland, McDonagh uses this petty altercation to explore the tumultuous and heartbreaking history of his homeland.
