Terms and Conditions of Emperor Cinemas VIP Membership (hereinafter referred to as “Terms and Conditions”)
1. General Terms and Conditions
1.1. VIP Membership Application
1.1.1. Applicant can apply the membership via following channels: at Emperor Cinemas; or via Emperor Cinemas website or mobile app. Upon the submission of a completed application form and all the necessary information and payment of the membership fee, the applicant is deemed to have carefully read and understood and deemed to accept and agree to be bounded by the Terms and Conditions herein and the Emperor Cinemas VIP Membership of the applicant will be effective thereon.
1.1.2. Member warrants and represents that all information provided in the application form is true, accurate and complete.
1.1.3. Member agrees to update the personal profile of e-membership account via Emperor Cinemas website or mobile app immediately upon any changes of details submitted to us in the application form. Emperor Cinemas shall not be liable for any claim, demand, liability or action resulting from their failure to supply us with their updated, true, accurate and complete information.
1.1.4. Emperor Cinemas has the final decision to refuse or terminate the registration of any applicant for any reason whatsoever.
1.1.5. Member must present valid membership card or e-membership card or login to e-membership account prior to payment to enjoy privileges, earn Tokens, use complimentary vouchers/redemption coupons/coupons and gift redemptions.
1.1.6. Member's registered name and date of birth must be identical to their identification documents, in order to serve gift redemption and verification (if necessary) purpose.
1.1.7. Each mobile number can be used to register for one membership account only. The registered mobile number must be verified to activate account.
1.1.8. Each email address can be used to register for one membership account and receive membership notifications. Member is not entitled to enjoy all membership offers if the account is not activated.
1.1.9. No membership fee will be refunded for membership termination before expiry and all Tokens and complimentary vouchers/redemption coupons/coupons in account will be forfeited.
1.1.10. In case of any violation of these Terms and Conditions or any misuse or abuse of privileges found, Emperor Cinemas reserves the right to terminate the membership any time without prior notice and decline the member's future application, and all Tokens and complimentary vouchers/redemption coupons/coupons in account will be forfeited.
1.2.1. Member will have an e-membership account after successful registration. Member can login the e-membership account via Emperor Cinemas website or mobile app.
1.2.2. Member can login the e-membership to use the e-membership card, manage e-tickets or e-coupons, check transaction records, receive the member offers or redeem offers or rewards with Tokens.
1.2.3. Member shall pay HK$20** of administration fee at Emperor Cinemas to issue a physical membership card.
1.3. Safety & Security of Membership Card and E-membership Login Number with Password
1.3.1. Member bears full responsibility to ensure the safety and security of membership card, e-membership login number with password and all transactions made under the account. Member shall change the password regularly for security.
1.3.2. If the membership card is altered, damaged or lost, member must pay HK$20** to reissue a new card at Emperor Cinemas.
1.3.3. Member should notify us immediately by contacting Emperor Cinemas staff or email to email@example.com if membership card has been lost or stolen, or if member has reason to believe that the e-membership login number with password may have been disclosed to an unauthorized party. Emperor Cinemas shall not be responsible for any loss (including loss of Tokens and complimentary vouchers/redemption coupons/coupons) suffered by member in relation to the loss of membership card or e-membership login number with password have been disclosed to an unauthorized party.
1.3.4. Only the member is entitled to use the membership card and e-membership account. Membership card, e-membership account, Tokens and complimentary vouchers/redemption coupons/coupons are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash. Staff of Emperor Cinemas reserves the right to request any person who use the membership card presenting their identification documents for verification. If evidence of misuse or abuse of privileges is found, Emperor Cinemas reserves the right to terminate the membership and cancel all Tokens and coupons without prior notice. The membership fee will not be refunded as well.
1.4. Promotional or Marketing Information
1.5. Membership Year and Others
1.5.1. Membership is valid for 1 year from the date of successful registration. For example, if the date of joining is October 2, 2017, the expiry date shall be October 1, 2018. After renewal, the expiry date shall be September 30, 2019.
1.5.2. Member can login "e-Memebership Card" (https://www.emperorcinemas.com/en/member/e_card) via Emperor Cinemas website, mobile app or visit Emperor Cinemas to renew VIP membership within 30 days prior to the date of expiry. Member must renew every year, membership will be extended for additional 1 year from the date of expiry after renewal. Expired account will be changed to FREE Regular Member and all Tokens and complimentary vouchers/redemption coupons/coupons accumulated shall be forfeited, member shall not be entitled to any form of compensation.
1.5.3. Unless otherwise specified, member's privileges mentioned in these Terms and Conditions are applicable to all Emperor Cinemas operated in Hong Kong.
1.5.4. Emperor Cinemas reserves the right to update, alter, suspend or terminate member's privileges, Tokens, complimentary vouchers/redemption coupons/coupons or any Terms and Conditions herein without prior notice.
2. Members' Privileges
2.1. Member Discounts
2.1.1. Member enjoys 10% discount on 2D, 3D, IMAX Theater and VIP House (the CORONET) ticket (include morning shows, first shows, Tuesday shows, mid-night shows, preview shows and special programs); ticket discount is not applicable to Child Tickets, Student Tickets, Senior Tickets, designated date, designated movies, movies of special engagement with film distributors, bulk purchase and house booking. Member can purchase a maximum of 4 discounted tickets for each transaction. The lowest ticket price after discount should be HK$45 (Tuen Mun & Ma On Shan), HK$60 (Citywalk), HK$65 (iSQUARE) and HK$85 (Entertainment Building).
2.1.2. Ticket discount is applicable to Emperor Cinemas concierge, website, mobile app and ticketing kiosk. Member can present the membership card or e-membership card at Emperor Cinemas concierge or login e-membership account via Emperor Cinemas website, mobile app or ticketing kiosk to enjoy convenient online/mobile ticketing experience with year-round member discount.
2.1.3. Discounted ticket price will be rounded up to the nearest integer.
2.1.4. Member enjoys 10% discount on concession by presenting the membership card or e-membership card at Emperor Cinemas concession counter.
2.1.5. Ticket and concession discounts are not applicable to house booking and cannot be used in conjunction with Emperor Cinemas Membership complimentary vouchers/redemption coupons/coupons, Emperor Cinemas movie vouchers or any other promotional offers.
2.1.6. Unless otherwise specified, all discount offer is not applicable to purchase merchandises and/or premiums.
2.2.1. Two HK$20 ticket discount e-coupons will be credited to each member account after successful registration and renewal. HK$20 ticket discount coupon is applicable to purchase a regular-priced 2D or 3D movie ticket via Emperor Cinemas concierge, website, mobile app and ticketing kiosk; is not applicable to IMAX Theater, VIP House (the CORONET), discounted shows (i.e. morning shows, first shows, Tuesday shows and mid-night shows), discounted tickets (i.e. Child Tickets, Student Tickets, Senior Tickets and Member Tickets), preview shows, special programs, designated date (December 24 to 26 and December 31 to January 1), designated movies, movies of special engagement with film distributors, bulk purchase and house booking. Ticket discount cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotional offers.
2.2.2. One complimentary birthday concession e-coupon will be credited to each member account 30 days before member's birthday, the coupon is valid for 60 days from credited to the e-membership account. Member can redeem the complimentary birthday concession with the coupon directly at Emperor Cinemas concession counter. If a member registered as member within 30 days before birthday, the complimentary birthday concession coupon will be credited to the account on the next day. If the member registered after his/her birthday of that year, the coupon will be credited to the account on his/her next year's birthday. Complimentary birthday concession e-coupon is only applicable to redeem a selected concession item at designated concession counter of Emperor Cinemas only: Pre-pack Popcorn (Tuen Mun, Ma On Shan, iSQUARE & Citywalk) or Froyo (Entertainment Building).
2.2.3. Please refer to any other additional terms and conditions and details listed on the coupons.
2.3. Online Ticketing Service Fee Waiver
2.3.1. Member enjoys online ticketing service fee waiver, a maximum of 8 tickets can be purchased per transaction.
2.3.2. Online ticketing service fee waiver is applicable to Emperor Cinemas website and mobile app. Member can login e-membership account via Emperor Cinemas website or mobile app to enjoy convenient online/mobile ticketing experience with online ticketing service fee waived.
2.3.3. Online ticketing service fee waiver is not applicable to house booking and bulk purchase.
3. Reward Scheme
3.1. Token Accumulation
3.1.1. 80 Tokens will be credited to each e-membership account upon successful registration and renewal. Relevant tokens earned by membership renewal can be used starting from the first day of next membership year.
3.1.2. Member can present the membership card or e-membership card at Emperor Cinemas concierge or login e-membership account via Emperor Cinemas website or mobile app to earn 5 Tokens per each ticket purchase; or present the membership card or e-membership card at Emperor Cinemas concession counter to earn 1 Token per HK$10 spending on concession.
3.1.3. No Token will be earned and accumulated when complimentary vouchers/movie vouchers/redemption coupons are used to redeem tickets (included the surcharge required for long movies, movies with special engagement with film distributors and designated movies) or concession items, house booking, bulk purchase or purchase selected merchandises, items and gifts.
3.1.4. Token earned will base on the discounted amount if any discount or the actual spending amount with the use of the e-coupon.
3.1.5. Member can earn 15 Tokens for every successful referral of Emperor Cinemas VIP Membership application. Each referrer can earn maximum 90 Tokens per membership year. The new member must provide valid member ID and name of the referrer for the referrer to earn Tokens.
3.1.6. Token is valid for one membership year. Member must renew membership within 30 days prior to date of expiry to retain the validity of Token for a maximum of one membership year. Any expired Token shall be forfeited automatically and member shall not be entitled to any form of compensation.
3.2. Rewards Redemption
3.2.1. Member can redeem various rewards with Tokens required. 40 Tokens are redeemable for a HK$25 concession discount; or Emperor Cinemas will offer particular gifts for redemption from time to time.
3.2.2. Member can present the membership card or e-membership card at Emperor Cinemas concession counter to enjoy HK$25 concession discount by a maximum of 40 Tokens directly per transaction; or redeem particular gifts with required Tokens at Emperor Cinemas concierge.
3.2.3. Member can present the membership card or e-membership card at Emperor Cinemas concierge enjoy one buy-1-get-1 free 2D or 3D movie ticket offer with designated Tokens directly per transaction:
- Entertainment Building (Monday - Wednesday shows) 60 Tokens
- Tuen Mun / Ma On Shan (Monday - Sunday shows) 60 Tokens
- Citywalk (Monday - Sunday shows) 75 Tokens
- iSQUARE (Monday - Friday shows) 85 Tokens
3.2.4. Tokens redeem buy-1-get-1 free ticket offer is not applicable to IMAX Theater, VIP House (the CORONET), discounted tickets (i.e. Child Tickets, Student Tickets, Senior Tickets and Member Tickets), preview shows, special programs, designated date (December 24 to 26 and December 31 to January 1), designated movies, movies of special engagement with film distributors, bulk purchase and house booking. Ticket discount cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotional offers. Member shall pay the surcharge for movie with long duration or special price specified by film distributors (if applicable).
3.2.5. Member may be requested to present personal identification document for verification purpose upon using membership card or e-membership card.
3.2.6. Emperor Cinemas is not the manufacturer or supplier of any reward gifts or services and give no warranty in relation to the safety, suitability, quality or performance of any rewards gifts or services of the reward scheme. Any warranty claims in respect of any reward gifts or services should be directed to the manufacturer/supplier. Emperor Cinemas is not liable for any claims, losses or damages whatsoever incurred by the reward gifts or services. All reward gifts are without any trial period and are not returnable. No cancellation and alteration can be made once redemption has been applied.
3.2.7. This reward scheme is effective from 14 October 2017.
4.1. For terms and conditions of e-coupon, please refer to the promotion materials and coupons for details.
4.2. All accumulated Tokens and complimentary vouchers/redemption coupons/coupons shall be forfeited automatically once the membership is expired or has been terminated, member shall not be entitled to any form of compensation.
4.3. Emperor Cinemas shall not bear any legal liability for any loss of Tokens, loss or damage suffered as a result of a technical defect or error that prevents us from retrieving information relating to Token balance from our systems.
4.5. Emperor Cinemas reserves the right of the final decision and interpretation in case of any disputes on these Terms and Conditions.
4.6. No person other than the Member and Emperor Cinemas shall have any right under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Ordinance, Cap 623 to enforce or enjoy any benefit of any of the provisions of these Terms and Conditions.
4.7. The Terms and Conditions are available in both Chinese and English versions. In the event of any inconsistency between the two versions, the English language version shall prevail.
4.8. These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Hong Kong and you agree that any dispute shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Hong Kong.
These Terms and Conditions are effective from 14 October 2017. Emperor Cinemas reserves the right to amend the member benefits and Terms and Conditions without prior notice. If new version of Terms and Conditions are released, this version will be replaced and the new version prevails.
** The specified fee is for reference only, Emperor Cinemas reserves the right to revise the fee without prior notice.
Protecting your privacy
We are dedicated to processing your Data in accordance with the required standards. This includes protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your Data in compliance with, where applicable, the requirements of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Chapter 486 of the Laws of Hong Kong) (the “Ordinance”), Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (the “GDPR”) and other relevant regulations where applicable.
We may collect, use and hold a range of different Data about you. For the purposes of the followings:
Member Account and Activity Handling: Registration for membership; identity verification; statement; members’ rewards input; gift redemption; purchase and activity contact etc.; date of birth maybe used for giving out birthday privileges or gifts;
Handling of Personal Data Requests: Verification of identity for handling requests of access, correction and erasure of personal data;
Statistics: Carry out statistics and data analysis, such reports will contain only anonymous data for customers' reference as well as improving our service and product quality;
Mobile App Services: Our system may identify the handset by memorizing the IMEI through registration by the user as a FREE Regular Member. By using the same handset, the user is not required to enter his/her password again for the next purchase. We will also monitor and analyze the download status of Emperor Cinemas mobile app to ensure system performance. MAC addresses are collected for the purpose of analyzing the hit rate of our mobile app in order to source and make available promotional or marketing information that you may be interested;
Direct Promotions and Marketing: Only after obtaining your consent the Company may send or contact you from time to time to share promotional or marketing information, which include our film introduction, cinema activities, members’ privileges and gifts; also business partners’ services and products: travel, banking and finance, beauty and cosmetics, property and shopping mall, entertainment, sports, music, gaming, transportation, automobile, household, fashion & clothing, retail, dining, food, beverage, insurance, gambling, education, health and well-being, drugs, culture & arts, environmental protection, charity, book and magazines, social networking, technology & e-commerce, mobile application, mobile payment, cloud services, media and consumer products and services. Please refer to “Direct Promotions and Marketing” for how we use your Data for such purpose.
Compliance of laws, rules, guidelines, regulations and/or requests issued by applicable government authorities, courts, law enforcement or other authorities or regulatory bodies.

You may be requested to provide Data such as, but not limited to:
the name, gender, date of birth and other details documented on your Hong Kong Identity Card (including first four alphanumeric characters) or other legal identity card and/or travel document;
contact details including but not limited to address, phone number, mobile telephone number and/or email address, etc.;
Data that you have shared with third party social media platform operators (e.g. account login name, profile picture, contact details), etc.;
payment details including but not limited to credit card, debit card and other electronic banking Data;
account details or Data relating to Services registered with us including but not limited to the relevant PIN, username or password, account numbers and/or service numbers;
device specific information such as hardware model, operating system, version, International Mobile Station Equipment (“IMEI”) number and Media Access Control Address (“MAC Address”), setting configurations and software and mobile network configuration;
information about how you use our Services such as your network usage, how you use our network, and your location when you are using our Services;
your credit and service history to enable us to assess your eligibility to our offers of Services or to accommodate your request for transfer of Services or your account with us;
all Data requested by applicable government authorities, courts, law enforcement or other authorities or regulatory bodies to enable us to comply with or in connection with any law, rule, regulation, judgment or court order (whether within or outside of Hong Kong); and
any other Data as may be required by any members of the Company and/or their respective contractors, sub-contractors, intermediaries, agents, business partners or representatives, brokers, underwriters from time to time and which is necessary for the provision of the Services.
In some instances, we may seek your consent to process the following types of “Special Data” to us so that we may further improve our Services and/or better tailor the type of information or content that we present to you:
gender and ethnicity;
Month and Date of birth;
education and profession;
monthly income range;
hobbies and leisure activities;
the Services that you have subscribed for; and
contact details, etc.
Provision of the Special Data mentioned immediately above is optional although, where the requested Service is a personalised Service or provision of a product is dependent upon your provision of all requested Data, failure to provide the requested Data may prevent us from providing those particular Services to you.
How we collect Data
We collect Data in a number of ways, including from:
you directly, for example, when you provide Data by phone or via email, attend our functions, complete an application form or agreement for one of our Services, or when you submit your Data through our websites or mobile apps; or when you contact us with a query or request; or during the ordinary course of the continuation of our business relationship with you; or when we are legally required to do so;
third parties such as related entities, business partners, or other customers, or your representatives with appropriate consent from you;
publicly available sources;
our own records of how you use our Services;
your visits on our websites or mobile apps (see “OtherPrivacy Data” section below); and/or
your participation in surveys or marketing promotions organised by us or on our behalf, etc.
Other Privacy Data
To better serve your needs and preferences, our web servers may collect Data relating to your website, device or app activity. We may also collect aggregated, anonymous, statistical data on the server's usage so that we may better cater to the behaviour of users of our websites and mobile apps. This type of Data may include, but is not limited to:
browser type, version and user agent;
IP (Internet Protocol) address and/or domain name;
connection data, statistics on page views and/or referral URLs;
device ID, location and phone contacts;
videos watched or searched for;
links or images clicked on;
cookies and/or browser, app or web server log data; and
device and software characteristics and/or configuration.
Our legal basis for using your Data including how we transfer your Data
We have a legitimate interest in properly administering the Services. In addition, our use of your personal data may be necessary for the performance of the Services that you have requested. In order to provide the Services that you have requested, we may, to the extent permissible under applicable laws and regulations, transfer your Data to organisations or parties outside of the Company (which may be within or outside of Hong Kong) (collectively, “Organisations”). Your Data is transferred to these Organisations for the strict purpose of enabling us to supply our Services to you but is not applicable to any Organisations which are not owned by the Company or of which its company policies are not controlled by the Company as well as any persons employed or managed by the Company.
In some circumstances as mentioned above, we may need to ask for your consent to use your Special Data where required by law to do so.
These Organisations provide support services to our businesses and operations including without limitation:
billing and debt-recovery functions;
information technology services;
installation, maintenance and repair services;
marketing, advertising and telemarketing services;
customer usage and behavioural analysis;
website usage analysis, etc.
We take the required steps to ensure that these Organisations are bound by appropriate confidentiality and privacy obligations in relation to the protection of your Data and that they use your Data for the sole purpose of carrying out the services for which they have been engaged, and not for their own or other purposes (including direct marketing).
In addition, we may transfer your Data:
to your authorised representatives and/or your legal advisers when requested by you to do so;
for the purposes of providing administrative, payment processing and/or verification, ticketing system operation, membership card services, discount/privilege offers, website management, system development and maintenance, , legal and/or operational support, to the following parties:
telecommunications network operators;
our affiliates, overseas offices, assignees, transferees and representatives;
our professional advisers, including our accountants, auditors, lawyers and insurer; and
our joint promotion business partners;
to banks and various business partners for reward redemption purposes and benefits applicable to members of our membership programs, including without limitation for the purpose of registering members for membership program related events;
to government and regulatory authorities and other organisations, as required or authorised by law; and/or
to any proposed or actual participant, assignee or transferee of all or any part of the relevant member of our operations or business.
Direct Promotions and Marketing
Marketing may be carried out in a variety of ways (such as in the form of a letter, bill insert/message, email, digital SMS, MMS, instant message, app push notification, by telephone, social media or advertisements on websites or other means).
We will honour each individual's request to not use his/her Data for the purposes of direct marketing. You may opt-out from receiving direct marketing material and/or communications from the relevant Service and/or any notices from the Company. At the same time, you may resume receiving the same (if you have previously opted-out of receiving such material and/or communications from the relevant Service) by making a written request to our Data Protection Officer together with your registered name and service account number, registered telephone number or login name (as applicable).
Transfer of Data outside Hong Kong
At times it may be necessary and/or prudent for us to transfer your Data to places outside of Hong Kong, for instance, for the prevention, detection or investigation of crime or for storage, processing and other purposes for which the Data were collected. In the event that we do transfer your Data outside of Hong Kong, we will do so in compliance with the prevailing requirements of the Ordinance, other relevant regulations and the GDPR where applicable.
The safety of your Data is important to us
1. The Organisations shall not keep any personal data transferred to them longer than is necessary for processing of the data.
2. Controls on password complexity, retries or resets are implemented to prevent passwords from being compromised.
3. Advanced encryption technology is used to protect the safety of personal data (including names, email addresses, telephone numbers, credit card information and purchase records) during transmission through our website or mobile app. Our Secure Socket Layer (SSL) system will prevent your data being transmitted from unauthorized interception or access by third parties.
4. Standalone server(s) with properly configured firewall are used to store personal data.
5. Only the personnel that have been trained with the strict privacy guidelines and procedures are authorized to access or handle your personal data. Such personnel are accountable for non-compliance with the related obligations.
6. The security system will be reviewed regularly.
When we pass your Data to third party Organisations for them to process, we seek to ensure that they have appropriate security measures in place to keep your Data safe and to comply with applicable principles in relation to data protection. Some of the people we share your Data with may process it overseas. You can contact us for more information about the safeguards we use to ensure that your Data is adequately protected in these circumstances.
Retention of your Data
We will retain your Data in accordance with our internal policies. Our policies are in compliance with the Ordinance and the GDPR where applicable, and cover the following principles:
(a) The membership information you provided for registration, with personal identifiable data and/or any copies thereof will be erased and/or destroyed within 2 years after received from Members. Credit card information will be destroyed within 6 months after payment process. If you desire to erase your personal data from our members’ and/or contact databases after the expiration of membership, please let us know;
(b) Other data will only be retained for as long as is necessary to fulfil the original or directly related purposes for which it was collected, unless the data is also retained to satisfy any applicable legal, regulatory or contractual obligations; and
(c) Data are purged from our electronic, manual and other filing systems based on the above criteria and our internal procedures.
Your right to access, correct and delete Data
We take all reasonable precautions to ensure that the Data we collect, use and transfer is accurate, complete and up-to-date. However, the accuracy of that Data depends to a large extent on the Data you provide. You have a right to request access to, and correction of, your Data and we recommend that you:
(a) let us know if there are any errors in your Data; and
(b) keep us up-to-date with changes to your Data.
If you wish to access or amend any of your Data we hold, or request that we delete any of your information that is no longer necessary for the provision of our Services, you may contact us in the manner as set forth under the “Contact Us” section. This service is free of charge.
You may exercise your right of access and correction by writing to our Data Protection Officer at the details stated in the “Contact us” section below. This service is free of charge
You may decline to share Data with us and/or withdraw any consents which you may have provided, in which case, we may not be able to provide you with some of our Services.
At any time, you may object to us holding or processing your Data, on legitimate grounds, save and except as otherwise permitted by the applicable law.
Unless specially required or requested by us, please do not send or publish any personal sensitive data (e.g. contents in relations to race, political views, religious or other beliefs, health record, criminal record or chamber membership, etc.) to us or through our websites or mobile applications. If we specially required or requested your provision of sensitive data, we must obtain your prior express consent.
