Synopsis
Yangon, Myanmar. A mess of pills and torn packaging points to the operations of a small clinic run by Dr. Aung Ming and his partner. Their relationship to their patients is as caring as their space is atypical; the former is a filmmaker, while the latter an amateur painter. Midi Z’s (City of Jade , 40th) latest film begins as a portrait of a health centre, yet expands into a snapshot of community and creativity against the abstracted backdrop of rising political turmoil in the country, from the ethnic cleansing of Rohingya Muslims in the Rakhine state to the Burmese military coup of 2021.
