This inaugural Festival of Young Cinemas of Asia-Europe in Macao welcomed a special dialogue between invited actor guests. It featured a dialogue between Isabella Leong from Macao, China, and Huang Xiaoming, a famous film and television actor from Mainland China. They explored how to tap into one’s potential within different types of movies and acting styles, shared insights on how actors prepare and portray characters, and discussed how they overcome various challenges throughout their careers in order to maintain vitality and creativity in the ever-evolving film industry.
Isabella Leong, a native actress from Macau, China, rose to fame in 2006 with her role in the film "Isabella," for which she won the Best New Performer award at the 11th Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards and Best Actress at the 27th Portugal International Film Festival. Subsequently, she has acted in a variety of roles under the direction of filmmakers such as Hark Tsui, Sylvia Chang, Ann Hui, and Dante Lam. In 2023, she took on the most challenging role of her career in the film "Breaking Point."
Huang Xiaoming, a Chinese actor and producer. His representative works include "American Dreams in China," "The Bravest," "The Message," "Forever Young," and "The Romance of the Condor Heroes," among others. With his performance in "American Dreams in China," he won the Best Actor award at the 29th China Golden Rooster Awards, the 15th China Film Huabiao Awards, and the 32nd Popular Film Hundred Flowers Awards, becoming the youngest Grand Slam winner of Best Actor in Mainland China to date.
